The MOM guidelines for who can hire a helper are as follows:

  • Be 21 years old and above
  • Not be an undischarged bankrupt
  • Have the mental capacity to fully understand and discharge your responsibility as an employer.
  • Have the financial ability to hire, maintain and upkeep the helper in an acceptable accommodation.

In addition you can discover the MOM employment rules here

As a first-time employer, you also need to pass the Employer Orientation Programme, a two hour course that can be taken online or in a classroom. More information can be found here.
